Since you can't really see the deer in the smaller version of the photograph, I have included a larger panorama version as well. I didn't get the deer's name...

We saw evidence of other wildlife during our stay at Great Sand Dunes National Monument. You could see tracks from a kangaroo rat on the dunes, along with some form of canine (probably a fox or a coyote). The kangaroo rat tracks are very distinctive. You can see the markings left by their tail as it drags across the sand.

I imagine that there are plenty of other critters that come out in the night to play on the cool sands as well.
