Bogen / Manfrotto makes excellent tripods. The 3001 model is one of their most basic, but it will serve you well. It scores very well on the cost factor. Our older model suffers a bit on the usability side, but Bogen has addressed our main concern by replacing the "twist" column clamps with the "flip" style found on our Bogen 3221W.

An excellent value for the money, and well worth the investment if you have mostly lighter equipment. We use a Bogen 3030 quick release head with this tripod, but it will also work with the heaver Bogen heads as well. Just remember that the more your tripod head weighs, the less weight you have available for additional equipment.
